In the torrent where information and thoughts change in an instant, my instinct prefers “going back” to let my thoughts reflect on current issues. In my paintings, such as “Book”, “One kind of Memory”, “The Corner Forgotten”, “Box”, “Accordion”, etc., some scenes and tools closely relate to my growth, my reading and life’s experiences. For me, those familiar and friendly items are of great personal value. They trigger my reflections on past intellectuals and literati.

The distance between the era when they lived and ours cannot be bridged, so a sense of loneliness always haunts me. I feel like an outsider in this era and sometimes I feel like “going back” to that era.
